Are you less than age 26 and feel you do not need medical insurance because you are healthy or it is too expensive?  What if you suffered a sudden, unexpected illness or accident?  Your medical bills could put you in debt or ruin your credit.  So, you should think about it.

Since short term medical insurance plans provide comprehensive coverage, it is similar to having an individual major medical insurance plan that pays for physician office visits, lab, x-ray, surgery and hospitalization.

Medical insurance policies provide nationwide coverage with any medical provider but the cost of medical care may be more than the cost of services offered through a college’s health service clinic.

This is also best done in your home country. Medical treatment is expensive without any form of health insurance. Buying medical insurances on the open market seems a little scary, but it’s often the easiest and cheapest option for student health coverage.

You should definitely shop around at more than one provider – prices and coverage can vary tremendously. If you’ve recently graduated, or intend to graduate in the near future, you should purchase individual medical insurance rather than student insurance.
